March means the start of Cabarrus Burger Madness, during which local chefs showcase their creativity and compete to be voted the winner by burger lovers. Diners can sign up for the free mobile pass to check in every time they enjoy one of the limited-edition burgers. Then, in May, get ready to enjoy one of North Carolina’s most famous staples during National Barbecue Month. Locally-owned restaurants across Cabarrus specialize in this American classic, from authentic Eastern Carolina-style pulled pork sandwiches at Jake’s R&R Bar-B-Que and an array of smoked meats at The Smoke Pit to barbecue, brisket, wings and more at Mt. Pleasant Smokehouse!
Take Me Out to the Ball Game
Lovers of America’s favorite pastime know that the first sign of spring means one thing: time to head to the ballpark! Our very own minor league team, the Kannapolis Cannon Ballers, has its home season opener at Atrium Health Ballpark on April 2, 2026, and it’s sure to be a blast for the whole family. Get ready for great concessions, hometown spirit steeped in the region’s history, promos and giveaways, music from the live organist and, of course, baseball!
Go On a Springtime Stroll
Enjoy the beautiful weather with a ramble in historic Downtown Concord. The district is in peak bloom in springtime, so you can enjoy the azaleas lining Union Street and the swaths of tulips in Memorial Garden, which also features flagstone paths and peaceful water features. (And don’t forget to get brunch afterward.) Downtown Kannapolis is also stunning in the spring as trees flower and longer days mean you can enjoy the sunset during an evening walk.
For a special treat, head over to Deer Run Farm in Midland to pick some plump, juicy strawberries during peak season. Check their social media channels to stay up to date on when the fruit is at its best.

For car and motorsports enthusiasts, spring in Cabarrus is heaven! The Heritage Invitational is a can’t-miss event, held in 2026 from April 9-11, coinciding with the AutoFair, at the exclusive Ten Tenths Motor Club in Concord. Attendees can choose from three levels of access and enjoy priceless vintage and exotic cars, thrilling motorsports action and the opportunity to enjoy the property grounds and amenities. On Memorial Day Weekend, head over to legendary Charlotte Motor Speedway in Concord for three days of high-stakes motorsports action, culminating in the 67th running of the NASCAR Cup Series Coca-Cola 600 on Sunday, May 24!
