Whether you’re a novice or a veteran golf player, Rocky River Golf Club — the premier public golf course in the Charlotte/Concord metropolitan area — may already be on your map. Designed by nationally known architect Dan Maples, the course is part of the Embassy Suites by Hilton Charlotte/Concord Golf Resort & Spa.

Plan a relaxing getaway at this recently renovated property and enjoy all that the surrounding area has to offer, including tours at neighboring Charlotte Motor Speedway and designer deals at Concord Mills, the state’s largest outlet and value retail shopping center.

Along with this course, Cabarrus County boasts even more spots for golf lovers of all ages and skill levels to enjoy. If you and your crew love golf, here are five more places you can’t miss.

A Day of Fun for the Whole Family

Looking for golf activities for the whole family? At Jocko’s Mini Golf in Kannapolis, the course is designed for both kids and adults, so all ages will find something suited for their taste and skill level. The mini golf course features a full 18 holes and lots of fun challenges, from water features and a tiki hut to a volcano! When you’re finished golfing, enjoy their arcade and a Sno-Cone or some nachos. You can even plan your next party at Jocko’s.

Enjoy the Great Outdoors

The 238 acres of Frank Liske Park in Concord have plenty to occupy everyone. Golf aficionados will enjoy the 18-hole miniature golf course, which is ADA-compliant so everyone can participate. There’s also an 18-hole disc golf course if you want to experience the game of golf in a different way.

Bring a picnic, enjoy the playgrounds and the horseshoe pits, explore four miles of walking trails and even experience fishing and paddle boating on the 10-acre lake. Frank Liske Park is a nature and wildlife preserve, so you’ll have plenty of beauty to enjoy — including, if you’re lucky, lots of monarch butterflies!

Practice Your Swing

Looking to practice your swing and have a fun day with friends? Head over to The Concord Range. Open from 9:00 a.m. to dusk every day, this outdoor driving range is the perfect spot to hone your skills. They’ve recently upgraded to cutting-edge Toptracer technology, which allows you to virtually play on the world’s best courses, compete against your friends and receive instant feedback on your swing, helping you fine-tune your game. You’ll get data on your distance, ball speed, launch angle, side deviation and other elements that can help you improve. And when you’re done, check out the Pro Shop for some snacks. You can rent clubs there, too.

Enjoy a Premium Indoor Experience

Want to practice your game indoors? Bullseye Golf Wrx in Concord has you covered. In their climate-controlled facility — perfect for days with less-than-ideal weather — they feature state-of-the-art golf bays, powered by Foresight Sports, where you can practice your swing on virtual courses. Their high-tech simulators make you feel like you’re right there on the green, and you can even get virtual instruction.

You can enjoy golf leagues and competitions, and if you’re in the mood, you can grab a beer and watch a game on one of their seven TVs with friends. Bullseye offers club building and customizations, including grips, shafts, lie/loft adjustments, ferrules and other repairs.

Another prime place to improve your golf game indoors is Mulligan’s Golf Club in Downtown Concord. With four private simulator bays and the ability to rent bays for two hours, this spot allows groups of up to four people per bay to book tee times for practice sessions, plus enjoy a full bar and light snacks in The Clubhouse. Mulligan’s is located within walking distance to plenty of local dining and shops, so players can turn a golf outing into a full day of fun.
